Winter Lil’ Warriors Assessment and White & Colour Belt Grading Report – November 2023
12 December 2023The Warrior Open 2024 – Comp Class
19 January 2024
We’re proud to announce that for the first time, The Warrior Open #TWO is back, and this time it’s TWO days.
For our newer students, The Warrior Open is an International Taekwon-Do Championship, hosted by Master De Silva and our own team of instructors, Black Belts and Volunteers.
Tournament participation is an important element of training for all our students allowing them to practise the skills they learn in class, in a safe controlled environment. The Warrior Open is mandatory for all De Silva Club members White, Coloured and Black Belt Students aged 7 Years and older, as it’s a unique opportunity to compete locally in London, but face some of the best competitors not just from the UK, but also from around the World.
Lil’ Warriors (3 to 6 years) will not be competing, but of course, they are invited to come and watch and support our older members. They will be taking part soon enough, so they can get a sneak peak at the action.
There are two disciplines, Patterns and Sparring. White Belts, and White Belts with Yellow Stripe, can compete in Patterns alone. All yellow belts and above will be expected to do both events.
All competitors are divided into different categories. These categories are based on gender, age, grade and height or weight. This means that students will only compete against someone of roughly the same age, experience and size.
The event is spread over two days, but students will only need to attend on the day which is specific for them.
Black Belts (all ages) - Saturday 9 March 2024
White and Coloured Belts (all ages) - Sunday 10 March 2024
Each day will be spread into different sessions of roughly four hours, and both events will be held in the same session. Students can attend for their session alone, although being present for the whole day will give them the opportunity to support friends and other students in different groups.
Confirmation of which categories will be provided once entry is closed, and the draws are published on 1 March 2024.
