Warrior Fight Night
1 November 2017De Silva Taekwon-do students ALL pass winter grading
3 December 2017De Silva Taekwon-do students enjoyed a successful ITF British Open Championships at the K2 Freedom Leisure Centre in Crawley.
The squad won 13 medals – including one gold, four silvers and eight bronzes – at the event which took place on 25 November 2017.
It was a particularly satisfying result as De Silva Taekwon-do sent a junior team to the tournament, which, for the first time, was promoted by three nations from separate organisations. Unlike many other competitions the British Open isn’t run by a single ITF body, meaning some of the best tournament organisers in Europe are involved.
What’s more, fighters from all of these organisations can enter the tournament, ensuring that De Silva Taekwon-do’s 13 students came up against high-calibre opponents. Given that many of the squad were competing at an external event for the first time, it’s amazing that they won so many medals.
De Silva Taekwon-do founder Johann De Silva was impressed with his team’s efforts. He said:
Train at De Silva Taekwon-do in London and you could be part of a winning squad. Book your trial lesson.“Given the standard of the opponents and the relative inexperience of our students at tournament level, winning 13 medals must go down as a remarkable achievement.”
